ACORN gotcha man among four arrested for attempting to bug Mary Landrieu’s office

Remember the douchebag who was playing at being Mike Wallace with a cleverly edited bit of “investigative reporting” that turned out to be basically false? Well, he’s been arrested for trying to bug U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu’s phone. I’m sure Hannity, Beck and O’Reilly will be issuing their apologies soon.

im not enough of a writer to avoid being either

I’m not enough of a writer to avoid being either hopelessly maudlin or sounding like the slogan of a failed 90’s dotcom (“the people network of connected people!”) so I’ll just say thanks. Thanks to bailey and poeks and auntmarvel for organizing such a swell party, Saturday night was about as perfect as it could have been. Thanks to the wonderful folk who traveled from so far away, across water even – your sniffys and secretsquirrels, your raffitorri, the Canadians, can’t forget them (sourey!). Thanks to the locals for putting up with us, for walking us around town, for staying out late on school nights, for showing off The Tablet after a few drinks (myeh, seems kinda half-baked, I’ll wait for the next one).

And to every awesome one of you for making these ridiculous and impossible friendships real and important. Thank you so much.

(Incredibly cute photo of phillygirl and myself, artfully captured by my pal zuhl)

Leftover Pizza

saltandfat:

So, what to do with leftover pizza and other breads? Once they’ve called the fridge their home long enough to get cold, how do you reheat them? Do you reheat them at all?

Not to be the guy who pimps his own side projects, but reading Neven’s post about leftover pizza while eating leftover pizza (best. hangover cure. ever.), I actually learned something! Neven’s half of Salt & Fat is definitely my new favorite blog.

Neven & Jim & Salt & Fat

My pal Neven and I are both enthusiastic cooks and eaters so we decided to start a food blog together. We’re calling it Salt & Fat. Neven did the design work, I mostly drank and told him to make the logo bigger. We hope you’ll find it awesome.

saltandfat:

Welcome to Salt & Fat, a blog about food and cooking written by Neven Mrgan and Jim Ray. As sort of an intro, we decided to conduct an interview with one another, talking about what we like about food and why we want to tell you about it. Enjoy.

Internet Explorer allowed Chinese spies to hack gmail accounts

Of course, Microsoft is telling everyone to upgrade from IE 6 and XP to Win7 and IE 8, even though IE 7 and 8 still contain the vulnerability! Isn’t this the same company that was saying Google’s Chrome Frame made IE less secure – I’m not sure how that’s even possible at this point.

Using Internet Explorer – any version – is simply irresponsible. Every alternative, from Firefox to Safari to Chrome to Opera, is a better choice.
