This quote is stark and illuminating, reminiscent of a complaint from two years ago when Trump shut the government down, that “he’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting”. The entire ideology of Trumpism, of MAGA, of “backing the blue”, is nothing more than American herrenvolk. The police don’t exist to protect a community, in this worldview, they exist to elevate “real” Americans and repress everyone else.
