LA Times editor in chief Jim O’Shea fired
Reportedly over refusing to carry out $4M in budget cuts, which would have most certainly led to some layoffs. I worked with Jim in Chicago and almost again in LA, he’s a top notch journalist and editor. This is certainly a loss for the Times. UPDATE: The Times’ budget is approximately $120M (reportedly) and according to managing editor John Arthur the cuts wouldn’t have resulted in newsroom cuts or seriously impaired coverage . ONE MORE UPDATE: O’Shea responds to the news.
